Mediheal Masks & Toner Pads: Which One Is Right for Your Skin?
"Every K-beauty shelf in Seoul has a Mediheal drawer. The brand has sold more than three billion sheet masks, and for fifteen years running it has been the best-selling mask at Olive Young, Korea's biggest beauty retailer. Now that Mediheal has arrived at KKUMIDA, the question we get most is not 'is it good?' but 'which one?' — tea tree or collagen, the bamboo sheet or the nude gel, the mask or the pad. I spent three weeks with all seven to answer exactly that."
The short answer: which Mediheal product should you start with?
Breaking out? The Teatree Essential Mask, with the Teatree Trouble Pad for daily use. Losing bounce? The Collagen Nude Gel Mask if you want an event-night result, the Collagen Essential Mask for a weekly habit. Dull and grey? The VITA Essential Mask, or the Vitamide Brightening Pad if you'd rather work on it every day. Tight and dehydrated? The Watermide Moisture Pad — the one I now use every single morning.
Mediheal was founded in Seoul in 2009 by L&P Cosmetic with one idea: put the results of a clinic facial into a single, affordable sheet. Its masks are developed with a dermatologist-led "beauty science" approach, and the brand has since sold over three billion of them in 36 countries. The current Essential range and the toner pads are the newest generation of that idea, and they fall into three families:
Essential Sheet Masks
Teatree, VITA and Collagen. A 24ml essence on an ultra-thin, bamboo-derived, biodegradable sheet that is vegan-certified. Fifteen minutes, two to three times a week, or as a rescue step.
Nude Gel Mask
A transparent, two-piece hydrogel made from seaweed-derived gel rather than cotton. It stays cool, hugs every contour and doesn't dry out. The "before an event" mask.
Toner Pads
Teatree, Vitamide and Watermide: 100 pre-soaked pads with tweezers. Swipe as a toner every day, or lay a few on as a five-minute mini mask. The daily maintenance to the masks' weekly treatment.
How I tested. Three weeks, combination and breakout-prone skin, hard tap water and the first radiator days of autumn. Each mask was used at least three times after cleansing and toning, timed to 15 minutes, with a photo of the same cheek under the same bathroom light before and after. The pads I used as a morning toner swipe for a full week each, and as a mini mask twice. What follows is what actually changed — and what didn't.

Best Mediheal Mask and Toner Pad for Acne-Prone, Oily Skin
Tea tree is Mediheal's answer to blemish-prone skin, but it is not the drying, astringent tea tree of ten years ago. Both products below pair Jeju tea tree with a probiotic ferment (the Tea Tree Calming Biome™) and contain no alcohol and no acids, so they calm the flare-up without punishing the skin around it.
Mediheal Teatree Essential Mask
The Teatree Active 3X complex combines tea tree extract, leaf water and oil with 4-terpineol, the compound behind tea tree's purifying, oil-balancing action. Panthenol and allantoin take the heat out of redness, and an amino acid complex hydrates so oily skin stops over-producing sebum to compensate. On my skin the sheet went on slightly cool and stayed put for the full 15 minutes without sliding; the essence is water-light, and the chin that was red at breakfast was visibly calmer by lunchtime. Not labelled fragrance-free (the scent is the tea tree itself and it fades fast). Vegan, alcohol-free, pregnancy-friendly. 24ml.
Best for: oily, combination and acne-prone skin; the night a breakout appears; calming after a flare-up.Less suited to: very dry skin that wants nourishment rather than clarity — choose the Collagen or VITA mask instead.
Editor’s tip: Keep two pouches in the fridge door. On a hot, inflamed breakout the cold sheet drops the redness noticeably faster, and it doubles as a cool-down after a day of ski-sun. Follow with a light, oil-free moisturizer only.
Shop The Teatree MaskMediheal Teatree Trouble Pad (100 pads)
This is the pad for skin that breaks out and reacts to most acne care. Jeju tea tree is cold-extracted for 200 hours, combined with a Lactobacillus ferment into the Tea Tree Calming Biome™, then carried inside liposomes so it absorbs deeper without stinging. Allantoin and licorice-derived dipotassium glycyrrhizate soothe alongside. In the brand's clinical testing redness improved by 66% immediately and active sebaceous glands were reduced by 24% after four weeks. My own week: no new chin spots, less midday shine, and — the part I didn't expect — zero tightness, which is not something I can say about most blemish pads. Alcohol-free, vegan, pregnancy-friendly.
Best for: oily T-zones, enlarged pores, redness-prone skin, sensitive skin that still breaks out; morning and evening use.Less suited to: anyone looking for an exfoliating BHA pad — this calms and clears, it does not resurface.
Editor’s tip: Swipe once after cleansing, then press a fresh pad onto the chin or jaw for five minutes as a mini mask on breakout days. Always use the tweezers so the tub stays clean and moist.

Mediheal Collagen Mask: Essential Sheet vs Nude Gel — Which One Firms Better?
Two collagen masks, two very different experiences. The Essential is the everyday sheet you can use three times a week; the Nude Gel is the cool, transparent hydrogel that gives the most dramatic single-use result. If firmness is your concern, the honest answer is that you'll want both — but for different nights.
Mediheal Collagen Essential Mask
The Collagen Active 3X Complex layers fermented vegan collagen (structurally close to the skin's own), Jeju carrot collagen for nourishment, and a pro-collagen complex of hibiscus, snow mushroom and chlorella that supplies the amino acids skin uses to build collagen itself. Adenosine smooths, sodium hyaluronate and panthenol hydrate. The sheet is the thinnest of the three Essentials and clings so closely that almost no essence is left in the pouch to evaporate. After 15 minutes my cheeks looked plumper and smoother, and the effect was still visible the next morning; after three uses in a week the "tired" look had gone. Vegan, alcohol-free, pregnancy-friendly. 24ml.
Best for: normal, dry and combination skin; early fine lines; loss of firmness; a weekly anti-ageing boost.Less suited to: skin that finds cotton or fibre sheets irritating — choose the Nude Gel Mask.
Editor’s tip: Pull the sheet gently upward from the jaw as you smooth it on — the "lifted fit" is in the instructions for a reason. Then use it the night before a big day, not the morning of.
Shop The Collagen MaskMediheal Collagen Nude Gel Mask
Collagen molecules are normally too large to do much, so Mediheal combines a low-molecular 500Da hydrolyzed collagen that can penetrate with atelocollagen and native collagen that form a plumping, water-holding film. The delivery system is the mask itself: a two-piece, embossed hydrogel made from seaweed-derived gel that stays cold on the skin, doesn't evaporate and doesn't slide. Niacinamide brightens, sodium hyaluronate and birch sap hydrate, xylitol helps skin hold onto the water afterwards. It is hypoallergenic and the most sensitive-skin-friendly mask here. On me it was the single biggest before-and-after of the whole test: the puffiness I get after a salty dinner was gone, and my jawline looked sharper for the rest of the evening. Alcohol-free, pregnancy-friendly. 30g.
Best for: dry, normal and sensitive skin; puffiness; fine lines and dehydration; an event-night result.Less suited to: a strict vegan routine (this one is not vegan-labelled) or anyone who wants a quick five-minute step — give it the full 20.
Editor’s tip: Peel both protective films off before you start, and apply the embossed side to the skin: top piece around forehead and eyes, bottom piece from cheeks to chin. Ten minutes in the fridge first and it becomes a serious de-puffer.

Mediheal for Dull, Uneven Skin: VITA Essential Mask vs Vitamide Brightening Pad
Dullness is usually two things at once: skin that is short on nutrients and skin that is short on water. The VITA mask feeds and hydrates for an instant lift in radiance; the Vitamide pad works on the deeper causes — uneven pigment, a sallow undertone and slow turnover — a little every day.
Mediheal VITA Essential Mask
The Vita Active 3X complex of panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and tocopherol (vitamin E) hydrates and defends against the oxidative stress that makes skin look worn. Plant phytoplacenta from soybean, pea and rye is rich in amino acids, peptides and nucleotides that support renewal; argan, meadowfoam and sunflower seed oils nourish without weight; adenosine smooths. This is the richest of the three Essential masks and the one my dry-cheeked colleagues fought over. The finish is luminous rather than glossy, and it sat perfectly under makeup an hour later. Vegan, alcohol-free, pregnancy-friendly. 24ml.
Best for: normal, combination and dry skin; dull, tired or uneven-looking skin; a glow before an event or after a long-haul flight.Less suited to: very oily skin on a hot day — the seed oils are light, but the Teatree mask will feel fresher.
Editor’s tip: Use it in the morning before makeup, pat in the leftover essence, then go straight to sunscreen. Smooth out air bubbles and pull the sheet slightly upward for a closer fit.
Shop The VITA MaskMediheal Vitamide Brightening Pad (100 pads)
Niacinamide at 3% evens tone by slowing pigment transfer and helps keep blemishes in check; sea buckthorn water adds antioxidant vitamin C; and a seven-vitamin complex of retinol, vitamin C, B1, B2, B6, E and K supports the turnover that brings fresh skin to the surface, delivered through a liposome system for faster absorption. In the brand's clinical testing, ruddy tone improved by 58%. The stretchy 100% cotton pad pulls to fit any area, which is what makes it such a good mini mask on the cheeks. Alcohol-free and vegan — but note it contains retinol, which makes it the one Mediheal pad that is not pregnancy-friendly and needs sunscreen every morning.
Best for: normal, combination and oily skin; dullness, dark spots and uneven tone; a glass-skin glow before makeup.Less suited to: pregnancy or breastfeeding, and very reactive skin new to retinol — start with evenings only and see our beginner's guide below.
Editor’s tip: Never on the same night as an acid toner or a retinol serum. If you already use retinol, treat this as your gentle "off-night" step rather than stacking it. New to vitamin A altogether? Read Retinol for Beginners: the no-stress starter guide first.
Shop The Vitamide Pad"Tight after every wash and puffy every morning — the hard tap water and the radiators are winning."
Best Mediheal Toner Pad for Dehydrated Skin and Puffy Mornings
Most tap water across Central and Northern Europe is hard, and the mineral film it leaves on skin is why your face feels tight the minute you towel off. A cooling, hydrating wiping pad is the fix — it lifts the residue and puts water straight back. Of the three Mediheal pads, this is the one that belongs in every bathroom, whatever your skin type.
Mediheal Watermide Moisture Pad (100 pads)
Different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid hydrate at different depths — large molecules form a water film on the surface, small hydrolyzed ones plump from below — and this pad layers ten of them, with beta-glucan and an amino acid complex to hold the water and squalane to seal it. The pad itself is a derma-gel texture rather than cotton, so it feels cool the instant it touches skin and calms as it hydrates. Swiped over a freshly washed face it removed that hard-water tightness completely; laid on the under-eyes for ten minutes it flattened morning puffiness faster than my eye cream does. No stickiness, no fragrance I could detect, and gentle enough for twice-daily use. Alcohol-free, vegan, pregnancy-friendly.
Best for: dry, dehydrated, normal and sensitive skin; tightness after cleansing; puffy morning skin; prepping before makeup; the first step of a barrier-repair routine.Less suited to: very oily skin that wants oil control from its toner step — pair it with the Teatree pad, or choose the Teatree pad alone.
Editor’s tip: Keep the tub in the fridge in summer and in the bathroom in winter. After a ski day, lay four pads on the cheeks and forehead for 15 minutes before your cream — it's the quickest way I know to stop the tight, wind-burned feeling. Swipe outward with the pad rather than patting, so it lifts the mineral residue off instead of pushing it around.

How to use Mediheal masks and toner pads together in one week
Pads are the daily maintenance; masks are the weekly treatment. The mistake most people make is doing both every night and wondering why their skin feels overloaded. Here is the rhythm that worked on my combination skin — swap the products for your own concern using the table above.
Every morning
Cleanse, one Watermide swipe, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen. Two minutes. On a puffy morning, lay two pads under the eyes while the kettle boils.
Every evening
Double cleanse, then the pad for your concern: Teatree for breakouts, Vitamide for dullness, Watermide for dryness. Serum and cream on top.
Two mask nights
Wednesday and Sunday: cleanse, pad, then an Essential mask for 15 minutes in place of your serum. Pat in the essence, seal with cream. Skip acids and retinol on mask nights.
The night before
A big day tomorrow? Swap the sheet for the Collagen Nude Gel Mask, straight from the fridge, for 20 minutes. Wake up plump and de-puffed.
Whether a sheet mask or an overnight mask suits your evening better is a question we get every winter — the answer, and why you should never sleep in a sheet mask, is in our sheet mask vs. overnight mask guide.
Your Mediheal Questions, Answered
How often, how long, whether to rinse, and which ones are safe in pregnancy.
Which Mediheal mask is best for acne-prone skin?
The Teatree Essential Mask. It combines tea tree in four forms with a probiotic ferment, panthenol and allantoin, so it calms redness and clears pores without alcohol or drying acids. Use it two or three times a week, or as a rescue step the night a breakout appears, and use the Teatree Trouble Pad daily in between. If your breakouts arrive on a monthly schedule, our guide to why skin breaks out before your period explains the timing and the routine that keeps it in check.
How often should I use a Mediheal sheet mask, and how long do I leave it on?
Two to three times a week is the sweet spot for the Essential masks, left on for 10 to 20 minutes — 15 is ideal. Longer does not mean better: once the sheet begins to dry it starts pulling moisture back out of your skin. The Collagen Nude Gel Mask is a hydrogel and doesn't dry out the same way, so it comfortably takes the full 20 minutes. Never sleep in either.
Do I need to rinse my face after a Mediheal mask or toner pad?
No. Remove the sheet, pat the remaining essence into your skin and neck, and follow with your moisturizer (and sunscreen in the morning). The same applies to the pads: swipe or lay them on, pat in what's left, and continue your routine. Rinsing would wash away the part that keeps working.
Are Mediheal masks and toner pads vegan and pregnancy-friendly?
The three Essential masks and the Teatree and Watermide pads are vegan-certified, alcohol-free and pregnancy-friendly. The Collagen Nude Gel Mask is alcohol-free and pregnancy-friendly but not vegan-labelled. The Vitamide Brightening Pad is vegan but contains retinol, so it is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. You can filter every product we stock by these criteria in the Pregnancy-Friendly and Vegan collections — and always confirm your personal routine with your doctor.
What is the difference between the Collagen Essential Mask and the Collagen Nude Gel Mask?
The sheet. The Essential is a bamboo-derived fibre sheet soaked in a light collagen essence: quick, vegan, and made for a two-to-three-times-a-week habit. The Nude Gel is a two-piece transparent hydrogel that holds the essence against the skin without evaporating and stays cool, which is why it de-puffs and gives the bigger single-use result. If you have sensitive skin that finds fibre sheets scratchy, or you want a visible difference tonight, choose the Nude Gel. For steady weekly firming, the Essential.
Can a Mediheal toner pad replace my toner?
Yes — that is exactly what it is: a toner pre-soaked into a pad, with the bonus that you can lay it on as a mini mask. Use it right after cleansing, before serum. Across most of Europe, where tap water is hard, a wiping pad is actually the better toner format, because a swipe lifts the mineral film hard water leaves behind, which patting a liquid toner in cannot do. Our Toner Dictionary explains where pads and liquid toners each fit.
